Animal news articles

I read 3 articles about animals this week, all from the Wisconsin
State Journal. I think you will find them interesting. I thought we'd
try something different because I'm bored with the oil spill articles.
There are snapping turtles and painted turtles in Madison. They are
trying to make nests right now. They live in watery areas but make
nests in upland areas away from the water. Sometimes they have to cross
roads to get there. There is a turtle crossing sign in Madison so
people slow down and don't hit them on the road.
A woman in LaCrosse, Wisconsin saw a mama deer giving birth to two
fawns in her backyard. They're now living in the corner of her yard.
Poachers in Africa are killing elephants for their ivory tusks and
selling them in China. This is bad because experts are thinking that
the elephants will become nearly extinct in about ten years.
